Lois Jeannette Bergman age 96, of Appleton, Minnesota, died on Saturday morning February, 01, 2025, at the Appleton Area Health Services - Care Center. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Lois Jeannette Bergman was born November 15, 1928, the daughter of William and Edna (Schwartz) Bartz. She was born on the farm of William and Edna Bartz. She was baptized on December 9, 1928, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Shible Township by Rev. Paul Gierke. Rev. Paul Gierke also confirmed Lois at Immanuel Lutheran Church on March 29, 1941.

Lois grew up on a farm in Shible Township, Swift County, Minnesota. She attended country school in rural Shible Township through eighth grade. She then attended Appleton Public School for ninth and tenth grade.

March 23, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Lawrence Reuben Bergman at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. Paul Gierke officiated the ceremony. Together they raised six children. They shared 59 years of marriage until Lawrence passed away in 2007. Aside from being a mother, Lois worked at Bruno’s Café and was a cook at the Appleton School for 21 years.

Lois was a volunteer at Pioneer Public Television and for various church organizations. She was the last charter member of the Birthday Club group which began in 1959. She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, quilting, gardening, and playing cards with everyone. She made the “best” lefse! In retirement, Lois and Lawrence enjoyed traveling throughout the Unites States and Norway. Lois cherished time spent with her family and sharing in the lives of her many grandchildren.

Lois was called from this life on Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, at the Appleton Area Health Services – Care Center in Appleton, Minnesota. She was 96 years old.

Surviving Lois are her children: David (Nancy) Bergman of Appleton, MN, Michael (Donna) Bergman of Appleton, MN, and Kathleen (David) Hanson of Glencoe, MN; nine grandchildren: Charles (Shelly) Bergman, Kelly (Jay) Hauck, Theresa Schriener, Norton (Alyssa) Bergman, Christy Mulenburg, Carrie (Paul) Van Overbeke, Michele (Jesse) Johnson, Katie (Dave) Henson, and Andrew Hanson; 26 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Marlys Bartz of Appleton, MN.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Bergman; children: Bruce Bergman, Julie Bergman, and Kenneth Bergman; granddaughter Julie Ann Bergman; parents William and Edna Bartz; brother DeWayne Bartz; sister Clarice (Ray) Sweno; and sisters-in-law Ruby (Tillman) Nelson and Frances (Leslie) Reinmuth.
